The point made here by Dr. Stephen Fairley (Duo Magazine, Feb.2016) is that your genes are not a death wish, and that although our DNA contributes to our health, it is far from being the predominant factor in most ailments.
Of greater influence is something we all have complete and total control over – our FOOD and LIFESTYLE CHOICES. Poor dietary habits, lack of exercise, and lifestyle factors contribute to disease-causing inflammation and illness more than virtually any other single factor. If you have fair skin, limit your exposure to the sun and wear sunscreen. And if you type 2 diabetes runs in your family, don’t surrender to it. Rather, take control and improve your diet and lifestyle habits.
